    Golden French Toast K-Cups—A Review

    January 18, 2012.

This is the first installment of “WWDW” of 2012. Happy New Year! If you’re still keeping your resolutions this far into the year (or if you’ve already tapped out), we’ve got a scrumptious alternative take on a breakfast favorite!

Sometimes you just want something warm, sweet, and syrupy in the morning. Sometimes, too, you just want to fit into your favorite jeans. Keurig has come up with a seasonally appropriate compromise!

Golden French Toast k-cups have a strong aroma and are a delicious light roast blend with the most accurate flavoring in a k-cup we’ve ever tasted! It’s no surprise that these cups are our most popular seasonal flavor.

This is the perfect “cozy-up-in-a-blanket-on-a-chilly-winter-night” coffee! We adore this flavor with cinnamon creamer and whatever sugar or sugar substitute you prefer! Unbelievably delicious!

Golden French Toast K-cups are a limited time product so if you want to try some, get them HERE!

    Halloween Coffee Recipe!

As you should be well aware, Halloween is this coming Monday. What you should also be aware of is that Halloween is fun AND exhausting. Want to add a little less fear and a little more fun to your work day? Try this spin on a delicious cup of joe:

Ah yes, fun sized candies. Is there anything greater in the world? They give you all the sweet nostalgia of Halloweens past, but don’t add much to your waistline (It’s Halloween, treat yourself)!

By simply adding two fun sized Milky Ways (or other fun sized candies of your choosing) to your cup of coffee, you create an 80 calories beverage (not too shabby) that is filled with caramel, chocolatey, nougat-y goodness!

We recommend putting the candy bars in the cup before you brew, and helping the melting along with a spoon or fork. There will be some nougat chunks, but we like to think it only helps! Give it a shot and have a Happy Halloween!

    Special “Stop Motion” Edition

    July 20, 2011.

Summer is winding down (in months, not heat), and we’re already sad to see it go. But it isn’t over yet, and a morning mini-vacation to the islands is definitely in order! That’s why Wolfgang Puck Jamaica Me Crazy  is What We’re Drinking Wednesday!

So maybe you aren’t  really on a vacation, but in your breakroom, or kitchen. And maybe you aren’t on a tropical beach soaking up the sun. That’s okay! The lid on this k-cup does well to make you feel like you aren’t under the fluorescent lighting of your cube.

Though it isn’t mentioned anywhere on the packaging, this Wolfgang Puck K Cup has a yummy coconut flavor (and you can get it year round unlike the Green Mountain version). There are also hints of cinnamon that really make this cup pop if you want to drink it black.

This is a medium body coffee, and just light enough to be enjoyed by everyone.  Wanna give it a try? Get some here!

    Fancy Food Show Loot 2011

With the exception of the struggle to get into my jeans this morning, and the chocolate hangover, I have to say the Fancy Food Show in Washington D.C. was a delectable experience.

Putting aside Beltway policies for pasta, debt ceilings for dijon, and recession for ricotta, the entire event was an odyssey of setting aside the staid and embracing the au courant.

New visions and new versions of food; untested, out of the box; remixed and anything but boring.

I saw seas of spices, oceans of olive oil, and bays of brie. “Gluten Free” is the new “Low Fat” and real cane sugar is back (sometimes everything old is new again).

We used to just drink coffee, now we can slather it on our ribs, sprinkle it on our ice cream or marinade our chicken in a Java sauce. I found hard candy that mimics perfectly the taste of espresso, and tea candy that tastes like a green tea latte.

One common thread between the myriad of booths was that many companies set aside a certain percent of their profits to give back to their home communities,  or national organizations that promote green energies and promote environmental sustainability.

At Alpine Valley we find these values to be important criteria in the choice of the products we present. We attempt to find family owned companies who feel responsible to their employees, and their communities, as well as the rest of the planet.

We think you will notice that our new product choices will have these qualities in common. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve found!

-Helen W. for Alpine Valley Coffee

    July 13, 2011.

Though we here at Alpine Valley pride ourselves on valuing health and wellness, sometimes, we want something unabashedly sweet and filling in the morning. Instead of running to the closest bakery and scarfing a down the baker’s dozen, we opt for this rich, bold, mildly sweet blend—That’s why Coffee People Original Donut Shop Blend is What We’re Drinking Wednesday!

Not only is the packaging on this k-cup totally sweet, the contents are absolutely phenomenal. Not at all bitter, but not weak, this coffee is great alone or complimenting a delicious (dare we say it) donut! This k-cup is one of our biggest sellers to date, and we know you won’t regret trying some! Get it HERE! http://www.alpinevalleycoffee.com/coffee-people-donut-shop-coffee-24-pack-p-126.html

Wondering What the Deal is with “Bold” Coffee? We’ve Got You Covered!

Hey there! I’m Coffee Cup, and it’s a pleasure to bring to you my passion for my namesake—coffee!

I’m often asked about the different definitions used to describe my kind. We are very misunderstood in the hot beverage world. For instance, my friend Cupp’O Tea has very few terms associated with his family. They are described as bulk, bagged, sweetie, hot or iced tea. All are fairly self explanatory, and few questions are asked of them.

For me, it’s quite a different story.

We come in so many varieties, with so many different adjectives to describe us that it can get sort of confusing. We come in hot and iced, not to mention light roast, medium roast, flavored, or dark roast. You can order us in whole bean, drip grind, espresso grind, fine grind, Turkish grind etc.

The absolute most confusing term is BOLD. I get asked all the time “what is bold coffee”? I myself am a very bold cup, but it’s more than personality!

Does it describe a certain roast, or a blend, or a grind? Does it have more caffeine than regular coffee?

Bold coffee can come in many varieties, and has nothing to do with the roast, the blend or the amount of caffeine. The term “bold” describes an intense, rich and robust flavor that has a full body. Bold coffee is about the flavor.  There are light and medium roast bolds, as well as dark roast bolds.

It’s all a matter of taste, and may take a few trials to discover your favorite. When you feel like you can outlast that familiar battery rabbit… you may want to switch to decaf, and there’s a bold for that too!
